Motherhood undoubtedly is the most unique and special event in every women’s life. Therefore, any mishap such as miscarriage generates equal amount of displeasure and anxiety. The WHO statement issued in the year 2005 suggested that women, who have suffered miscarriage, should wait for at least six months before trying for another pregnancy. Whereas a recent study conducted on more than 30,000 women who had miscarriage in their first pregnancy and conceived again says that “sooner may be better”.

Research conducted by Sohinee Bhattacharya at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital in Aberdeen, Scotland concludes that “women who have gone through a miscarriage in their first pregnancy, if again conceive within six months of the miscarriage are more likely to give birth to a healthy child and avoid many delivery problems too.”

Sohinee Bhattacharya said that, “Our research shows that it is unnecessary for women to delay conception after a miscarriage, any delay in attempting conception could further decrease their chance of a healthy baby.”

The advantages of conceiving earlier according to the research are::
•    Early pregnancy suppress complication rate.
•    Less chances of ectopic pregnancy.
•    Healthy delivery of child.
•    Reduces chances of Cesarean delivery.
•    Lesser chance for further miscarriage or termination of pregnancy.

It should be noted that there are a lot of external and internal factors that lead to pregnancy and miscarriage in a women; therefore, it is advised that proper clinical checkup and expert advice should be taken.
